This $1-billion-plus Design-Build project, encompassing
over 10 miles of major highway, involves the
addition of a High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV)
commuter lane to the existing highway
corridor. The widening will occur between the Santa Monica
Freeway (I-10) and the Ventura Freeway
(US-101). The project requires the replacement
of three (3) major bridge overcrossing
structures, the widening of thirteen (13)
undercrossing structures, the installation
of over eighty (80) retaining wall and sound
wall structures, and other capacity
enhancement and highway safety features.
FHWA provides oversight for this
project.
FPL is responsible for the design of freeway
